| history |
Saint Maximin was once part of la Vignerie and of the
diocese of Uzès. This village consisted of 5 dwellings in 1384.
The priory of Saint Maximin was linked to the sacristy of the chapter
of Uzès and to the bishop's territory.
The castle of Saint Maximin was ceded by King Louis VII to the bishop of Uzès
in 1156. The seigneury of Saint Maximin belonged to d'Argenvilliers (Racine's
uncle) in 1721. |
