Saint Gervais is a village that boasts a 5000- year history,
and it has also been able to maintain its rural character.
At the height of the summer, bathers are drawn towards the small public beach,
le Gravas. Hikers have several trails to choose from, including ones to the springs
of Foncirgues, to the Naste estate, or the estates of Madières in Bayne,
Bedosse, and l'Isle.
Numerous public facilities are available to the public, and associations organize
a variety of activities. In short, St. Gervais is a good place to live in.

| history |
In the Middle Ages, St. Gervais was built in a circular
pattern around its church (whose foundations date from the 11th, perhaps
even the 9th, century) and its 13th-century fortified house, which became
a castle in 1607. A former powder magazine and barracks recall a time
when the inhabitants had to provide for their own security. The royal
troops made stops in this district.
Many Roman villas and workshops have left behind some significant ruins on the
plain. Saracen and Visigoth tombs remind us of ancient migrations.
